Rod Stasick

Rod Stasick of Waywords and MeansignsI’m a composer in the broad sense of the term. I’m interested in the creation of event-systems for various situations. Template scores are often created using a combination of graphic signs and symbols that usually suggests a syncretism of styles and methods of performance. Using these methods, I produce works in diverse disciplines (audio, video, text, mail art, conceptualism, etc.) utilizing assorted influences: Eastern Philosophy, Fluxus, The Situationist International, Oulipo, Semiotics, Discrete Event-Systems, random numbers to revamp Zen planning and forms of Information Theory.

My interest in Joyce goes back decades. A highlight of my life was being in Dublin for the Bloomsday Centenary in 2004.

I would like to further use various methods for various segments of the Wake, so as to have it compiled into an interesting full realization of the book. This segment is quite light on the electronics used – with all of the sound derived from electronic manipulation of my voice reading the text.

Rod Stasick contributed to the Opendoor Edition of Waywords and Meansigns in 2017, recording “Peace Antiques”, page 506 line 34 through page 509 line 36.
